Scanning Guide

Worried about posting your original photographs to us? Do not worry, you can just scan them yourself and email a digital copy to us. To ensure the best quality digital image here are a few things to consider before you scan your image.

  • We ask that you always scan you image in full colour, even if your image is in black and white as it captures all the vital information we need to work on your image.

  • Your photo must be scanned at a minimum of 300dpi, although we recommend 600dpi. In some cases we will ask you to re-scan your image at a higher setting if the original image is small in size.

  • Please save your scanned image as a JPEG or TIFF file. it is also important to save your image in its highest quality setting. The better quality of image you send us allows a higher quality finished image.

  • Please make sure all image enhancements are deselected or turn off such as auto-sharpening, auto-colour adjust etc. We need an accurate scan of your image as it is. such settings will alter your image in such a way that it will lose some of its original quality or important information features in the photograph.

  • Please ensure that when attaching your scanned image to your email to send to us that your email program does not compress your image as it sends it. Compression will alter the quality or your image and in some cases causes it to become blurry or pixelated.
