Fashion Faux Pas Part 3 – Hair
Everyday we are faced with our own personal follicle based challenges. How many times have we woke up in the morning and your hair, or lack of it, has been the source of much frustration. The one sure way we can change our appearance is to alter the colour or style of our hair, but how many times have we got it wrong? Whether we have trusted a rookie trainee hairdresser, committed an unsuccessful self-performed fringe trim, or the application of a bargain bin hair dye that has left your hair in various unattractive tones ranging from dull gold to carrot red.
No matter the hair faux pas, here at ReClick Photo we are here to help. Sadly when it comes to successfully digitally retouching hair there is only so much I can do, but I do like a challenge. Let’s take a look at an example of what can be rectified successfully.
As you can see from the image above, both of the subjects featured here are partial to colour matching their hair colour with their outfits. Although coloured hair can be a strong fashion statement, sometimes it can be an epic fashion blunder. Here is what I wish to achieve in this project:
- Retouch the colour of the hair only.
- Reconcile the tonal quality of the hair with the existing uncoloured hair.
- Achieve a natural look.
Would you like to see the finished image?
What do you think? Firstly I stripped the red and green coloured dye from the hair, then I continued to colour match the those sections with the rest of the uncoloured hair. To complete the retouching I then proceeded to match the tonal quality of those areas of the hair in order for them to blend in. Then project was then complete.
Rather than having to wait for an appointment at your favourite salon, you can sent your image to me at ReClick Photo and I can help with your hair disasters caught on camera.
